Specifications for the Shokaku Class

Modellers’ difficulty rating: This is a relatively new model and is not difficult to make, but I would have liked separate elevators so that there would be an option to break up that long flat flight deck. Oddly Tamiya have taken a few short cuts to simplify this kit. This is especially apparent when you compare it to the Shinano. Don’t get me wrong this is a great kit. I am just surprised that Tamiya did not go to town on such a famous pair of ships.
Notes: The model represents the Zuikaku around October 1944, in her final days. I have used the excellent Gakken No.13 on the Zuikaku to detail this model and I modified their suggested paint scheme to tie in with my earlier Zuiho.
